Kuwait power transmission line

Project Description

Project scope of work involves the supply and installation of two (2) new 400kV double circuit three phase overhead transmission line from existing line (tapping of 400kV Double Circuit (D.C) Overhead Transmission line (OHTL) between existing Subbiya Power Station and existing Sabah Elahmad “4Z” substation) to proposed Mubarak AlKabeer Port “Z” 400/132/11kV substation.

Each of the existing and proposed lines consist of quadruple conductors per phase, using GZTACSR equivalent in diameter to 400 sq.mm nominal area ACSR Zebra conductors for phase and two conductors at the top cross arm of the tower, one of them is 19/2.36mm galvanized steel wire and the other is optical fiber ground wire (OPGW).

The new proposed lines will cross existing three (3) 300kV D.C line and one 400kV D.C lines.

The above crossing will be implemented by 400kV underground XLPE cable of 2×2500 Sq.mm cable / phase and will be supplied and erected by other contractor together with corresponding cable sealing ends boxes.

Accordingly, two (2) D.C terminal towers with two (2) D.C take off gantries shall be supplied and erected at the cutting points and two D.C DT/D30 towers and two (2) gantries shall be supplied and erected at the other end of the crossing.

The approximate route length of OHTL is 96 kilometers.

The period of the contract will be Thirty (30) months starting from signing the contract. MEW will issue the final certificate after the completion of the guarantee period and fulfilment of all contractual requirements.

MEW already awarded the construction of 400kV substation of valued $94 million to Siemens
